My name is Kamila Jarosińska, I am a professional actress with diplomas from the National Film School in Łódź, Poland (M.A.) and the Israeli Drama School "HaDerech". I am also a theatre and film instructor, scriptwriter and theatre director working with young actors.

After graduating from film school in 2010, I moved to Israel where I spent the next seven years honing my artistic skills. As an actress I had the pleasure to work with such directors like Natalie Portman (on her directing debut "A Tale of Love and Darkness"), Avi Nesher ("The Past Life"), Arik Lubetzky ("The Fellowship of the ring") and more.

It was in Israel where I also started a collaborative project "Ilustracja" with the aim to integrate children from mixed Polish-Israeli families of all ages through acting, dance and filmmaking. Over the past years we have received seven grants from the Polish Embassy in Tel Aviv for the development of our projects, a body of work which we successfully continue until the present day.

After my time in Israel I moved back to Poland in 2017, where I was cast in recurring roles in such prime-time Polish Television series as "On Wspólna Street", "Belle Epoque", "Do Not Worry About Me” and others.

When I moved back to Poland three years ago, I also started working for the Polin Museum of the History of the Polish Jews, where I currently lead educational and artistic workshops for children of all ages, as well as family workshops for children and the adult members of their families. At the Museum, I also led three thematic staycation camps based on my own scripts.

After some time, I was invited to be an improv teacher for children aged 8-12 at the JCC (Jewish Community Center), where I wrote and directed the Purimspiel, a traditional play of Yiddish origin (Yiddishspiel), performed during the Purim holiday.

This experience has led me to my biggest teaching adventure, which is teaching a year-long acting class for children of all ages (5-18) in musical theatre at the Academy of Young Talents in Warsaw. While there, I also wrote and directed a nearly three-hour-long musical that was presented this past June on a professional stage at the Syrena Theater.

The show called "Whatever You Want Will Come True" told the story of the children banned from their planet due to pollution, who strove to find their identity and make positive connections on planets dominated by social media. The show heightened such themes as tolerance, exclusion, friendship, among many other.

Except for being a day-time teacher, I also took part in three summer art camps as an acting instructor, where I directed shows, music and film clips, and hosted four stationary theme-camps based on self-developed curricula and lesson plans.

I am also a member of an art collective called B.Sides with whom we create performances presented at festivals and stages all over Poland.

My love for acting as well as teaching began when I was a twelve-year-old child. It was then that I joined an acting troupe at the Musical Theatre in my hometown of Gdynia, and I have been involved with the stage and the set ever since.

I come from a long line of teachers who taught me that knowledge is not something to keep for oneself, but to share with others. And that, more than anything else, has influenced my approach to both life and art. I started very early by volunteering for the Gdańsk International Shakespeare Festival and ended up with I love doing now.

In my work, I focus on creating a safe and welcoming environment for and within the group, defining the meaning and importance of the “group” itself. I don’t believe in dividing actors into the good and the bad ones. To me, everyone has their own tempo, a unique sensitivity and every scene and topic can be portrayed in many ways, based on particular point of view and a set of individual experiences.

My Israeli mentor said to me one day that “there is not a better you than you”, which has defined the way I approach my workshops. I always aim at bringing my actors closer to themselves, so that they could find freeier ways to express themselves through art. I show them that there is not one acting method, which in turn gives them the space to develop their skills and sensitivities at their own respective pace. I also believe in a holistic integration of the group, because if one can go far, all can go even farther. After all, we are all a part of the same puzzle and it will never be complete if it misses even the smallest piece.

During my classes or rehearsals, I love to encourage students to help and assist others at every single step of the creative process, so that they’re able to foster their understanding of being responsible for one another. I find creating such a nurturing environment to be a key aspect in the very delicate process of expressing oneself through emotions.

When it comes to working with text, I mix the use of published material with original pieces, written during the process. It all depends on the level and the dynamic of a particular group. But what’s most important to me, we never forget about expressing joy when working together. After all, it is a summer time. And even if some days tend to be a little gloomy at times, I have a whole set of improv games to brighten even the murkier ones.

I'd love to contribute to my students all the knowledge and experience I have gained through all the stages of my career as an actress, art instructor, scriptwriter and director. I am a warm and open-minded person with immense curiosity towards people and their unique life stories. I am who I am because of art. It has helped me in developing my character and gave me a positive lens through which I see life in all of its forms. Therefore, I would love to combine my teaching skills together with my sensitivity towards any forms of exclusion and intolerance, and provide my students, both groups and individuals, with everything that art has given me.
